Hello and welcome to the Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity prelicensing course. I will be your professor in this course and together we will embark on this journey - the journey to understanding the complexities of the insurance industry.

We will be using the Florida Life, Health and Variable Annuity Study Manual as we go through the course, so have your manual open during the study process. I will be guiding you through the specific units in the manual that you should study before we go on to the other sections of the course. Feel free to highlight any information in the manual that is especially pertinent, such as the information I will emphasize for you throughout the course. As we proceed, pay particular attention to any emphasized information as this will be most helpful in assisting you to pass your state exam and reach your goals.

At the end of every section you will be given a brief quiz on the subject matter covered. You will not be graded on these quizzes; however, you will be informed if you did not answer a question correctly and you will be told where to find the correct answer. These quizzes are strictly for your own information to show you how well you have retained the information contained in each lesson.

At the end of each unit in the Florida manual, you will find a summary, a list of key concepts, and a quiz. As we study, you will hear me over and over again emphasizing the importance of the key concepts listed. Make sure you are familiar with all of them. If you're not, go back and study again on that particular subject. The value of memorizing the meanings and concepts of each of them cannot be stressed enough. The flow of this course may not exactly follow the flow of the manual, but we will let you know where you can find the same subject material within the book. The answers to the manual's Questions for Review are located in the back of the manual so that after you take the unit review quiz, you will be able to check your progress and knowledge. At anytime if you do not do well on the quizzes or if there is any confusion in your mind, you can go back over the material.

We will begin the course with the basic principles of insurance and finish with Florida rules and regulations pertaining to the industry. In between we will study such topics as the legal concepts of the insurance contract, policy provisions, underwriting procedures, annuities, government insurers, retirement plans, and long-term care.

If you have any questions during your course studies, you can contact me at professor@floridainsurancelicensing.com or by pressing the Contact the Professor button located at the end of each lesson for your convenience.

When you see my picture throughout the course, you will be able to hit "Play" on the Helpful Hint button and I will emphasize significant points about the material you have just covered. Now it's time to dive into Module I, the Basic Principles of Life and Health Insurance and the Legal Concepts of the Insurance Contract.

Good luck and I will see you soon.
