10.2.4 Blackout Period
The blackout period is that timeframe in which the youngest child reaches the age of 16, yet the surviving spouse has not reached the age of 60, Social Security benefits to the surviving spouse are temporarily suspended. When the surviving spouse reaches the age of 60, Social Security benefits for the surviving spouse can begin again.
