19.5.6 Newborn Children
Under Florida law, coverage for any newborn children of an individual who is covered under a health insurance policy must be provided immediately at birth. Coverage must also be provided for a period of at least 18 months.
Newborn Hearing Screening
Hearing screening must also be a covered benefit. Any screening provided prior to hospital discharge and any medically necessary follow-up evaluation leading to diagnosis must be a covered benefit under all health insurance policies and HMO contracts.
