19.5.12 Chiropractic Treatment
Florida law requires insurers to either provide or offer chiropractic coverage. Under group health insurance, employees are entitled to elect chiropractic coverage. If any services covered under the policy are performed by a qualified chiropractor, the benefits are payable to that chiropractor.
Florida law also requires most individual and group health insurance and HMO contracts to provide coverage for medically necessary diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis for high-risk individuals. Specified accident, specified disease, hospital indemnity, Medicare supplement, and long-term care health insurance policies are excluded from this requirement however.
